How Inheritance Works

1. Principal Setup

The deposit owner designates an heir address. This resets the inactivity clock.

2. Heir Request

The heir submits a claim request on-chain. The 777,600-block countdown begins.

3. Auto Transfer

If the principal doesn't cancel within the window, all deposits transfer automatically to the heir.

The principal can cancel at any time. This resets the inactivity clock and invalidates any pending claim.

⏱ What « inactivity » means — exactly

The countdown is 777,600 blocks (~18 months). It resets only when you perform an action signed with your own key: create a term deposit, withdraw deposit rewards, or update/cancel this inheritance setup.

Receiving funds does NOT count — mining rewards, incoming transfers, and deposit claims (even yours) do not reset the clock. This is deliberate: only an action you actively sign proves you are alive — a machine mining unattended must never block your heir.

If you perform any signed activity after your heir has submitted a claim request, that request is automatically cancelled and the countdown starts over.
